Stress test of Stephen's long endurance hexa design (update)

Today I have taken the hexa on a first waypoint mission:

  • 16 waypoints
  • 5m elevation
  • heavy wind (see video)
  • no crash

Setup using droidplanner:

Flight path visualized using Google Earth:

Video (unfortunately I received a phone call and recording stopped after about 50% of the mission...):

So, apart from the yawing issue described and discussed here and here I think it is ready for a first image acquisition mission (under little or no wind conditions...).

The yaw issue is solved! I now have a loiter time of 37 min in gusty wind (20%/13.4V).

Aiming at 40 min flight time I redesigned my battery/camera mount and managed to save almost 100 g.  I'll report...

I made amother waypoint mission test today under less windy conditions: 35 min (23%/13.7V). For longer flight times you need lighter arms and batteries, as proposed by Stephen. But with 35 min I am happy so far!

What I forgot to mention: the hexa is relatively quiet.
